Weekend Webbies — Just One Thing

With our birds probably in flockdown, their drinking and bathing water might not be in the ideal pool. Movement can keep water open, but smaller volumes than usual may be prone to freezing if we get a really cold snap. Check to make sure birds can still get out if a rim of ice was to form around the pool.

Just one more thing... We encourage all bird keepers to register your birds with APHA, even if only kept as pets, so they can contact you during an outbreak. This is a legal requirement if you have 50 or more poultry (poultry includes chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigeon (bred for meat), partridge, quail, guinea fowl and pheasants).
You can also register for APHA’s Animal Disease alert subscription service to receive immediate notification of new cases and updated zones in GB.

B is of course for Beautiful. Clean water is essential for top quality birds like this Black East Indian, exhibited by the late Laura Ewen. Pic by Rupert Stephenson.
