The colour genetics of the Yellow Belly Call are not fully investigated, but these delightful little birds are certainly handsome. Topsides, that is above the waterline, they strongly resemble the wild Mallard colour. The ducks do have rich pinkish buff on the lighter parts of their faces. The 'Yellow' is maybe a little misleading, their breasts and bellies are actually pinkish buff. The Yellow Belly is not well-represented. Could you be a champion for the breed?</span></div>

We encourage all bird keepers to <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/poultry-including-game-birds-registration-rules-and-forms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">register your birds</a> with APHA, even if only kept as pets, so they can contact you during an outbreak. This is a legal requirement if you have 50 or more poultry (poultry includes chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigeon (bred for meat), partridge, quail, guinea fowl and pheasants).</span></div>

<p><span class="" data-offset-key="32ia8-0-0">This painting by <span class="_247o" spellcheck="false" data-offset-key="32ia8-1-0">wildlife artist</span> </span><span class="_247o" spellcheck="false" data-offset-key="32ia8-1-0"><span class="" data-offset-key="32ia8-1-0">Carl Donner</span></span><span class="" data-offset-key="32ia8-2-0">, from the Millennium Edition of British Waterfowl Standards, is one of four paintings of heavy ducks to be auctioned at the Exhibition. All four; Blue Swedish, Cayuga, Pekin and Rouen Clair will be on view at our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BritishWaterfowlAssociation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Facebook</a> 'At Home Live' with Billy Sumner, on 12th August.</span></p>

<div class="_1mj _1mf" data-offset-key="52nf3-0-0"><span class="" data-offset-key="52nf3-0-0">The name 'German Pekin' stems from the exhibition strains becoming scarce in the UK and fresh blood being imported from Europe in the early 20th Century. Only the white is standardised for the show bench, but Appleyard markings look particularly striking too. American Pekins developed in parallel last century, but along a slightly different path.</span></div>
