The BWA Offers members a wide range of services and facilities
to help them get more enjoyment from waterfowl:
- Members receive
three BWA Waterfowl magazines per year, which carry articles of general
interest to waterfowl enthusiasts as well as exchanges of views,
advice on specific problems, book reviews and information about
shows and Open Days.
|
- Members
also receive the breeders Directory, which includes a comprehensive
list of member breeders with stock for sale.
Entries in the
are available to members only. There is a charge of £20 a year and details
should be sent to the secretary.
- There are information leaflets to help newcomers
to waterfowl keeping.
- Members have access
to a well stocked bookstall which provides excellent reading material
at reasonable prices, either by mail order, or at open days and
shows. Bird leg rings and a variety of gifts are also available.
- members may attend
Open Days which are organised every year at interesting collections
across the country. Sometimes these visits include a question and
answer session, providing an invaluable opportunity to discuss problems
and seek information.
- When necessary, the
BWA can act nationally if its members' interests are threatened.
The Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981, introduced certain restrictions
and conditions regarding the keeping and selling of many species
of wildfowl. Discussions by the BWA about the implications and
implementation of these regulations have taken place with the Department
of the Environment
